Inspiration-Lillian Bassman

Brooklyn raised Lilian Bassman's work appeared mostly in Harper's Bazaar in the 50's to mid 60's.
She abandoned fashion photography for a portion of time and threw out all her negatives. They were not found until the 90's. Now there is a new appreciation for her use of contrast, graininess, and camera angles.  She is in her 90's and still shooting.
That's my kind of lady...

Visits!

Mom, Aunt Linda and Missy came this weekend for a shopping visit!  We spent most of Saturday laughing in dressing rooms and buying work clothes for mom. It was the loveliest day and the weather could not have been more gorgeous.

Sprouts.

I'm very excited to have lots of plants growing in my apartment right now. Beans, tomatoes, basil, lilac and some other stuff too.  I'm making progress. Today I can start to see the tiniest bean sprouting and also the tiniest branch growing at the base of my large tree. Soooo tiny.

Oh the updating...

Sorry for the delay! Crazy weekend roundup coming your way!

Friday was a lovely celebration for my friend Jamie's boyfriend Benjamin Martins. He got his MFA on Friday!!! He is a lovely gent and an even lovelier painter. You should all buy his work.

Quinoa

Today I made my first batch of quinoa. For some reason this freaked me out for a while, I thought I would ruin it or over cook it, but I got past that and made a delicious quinoa salad and dressing! And I made way to much, so come over and eat!

Inspiration- Chloe Crespi

Today's inspiration is close to my heart and her name is Chloe.
I met her while working at Gloss in NYC.
Besides being an amazing photographer (which you are about to see) she is beautiful and such a good soul.
I feel very lucky to know her and to have worked with her. She is part of my favorite super lady team. aka Kristen Lotto, Tali Magal, Chloe Crespi.  I'm pretty sure these three could rule the world (of fashion at least).
I advise you all to check out her site and watch her film Wake Up...I can't say enough good things about it and her.

It's all about BEANS!

Stephanie Fontaine that is! She rocks!
Today I received a lovely care package (I think my first ever) from beans.
It was full of candy and had a replacement coffee press for the one I just broke!
It was very thoughtful and super appreciated as I have been missing my at home coffee.
I love her.

Inspiration-Vintage Hats

Enough said. Featuring my fave lady, Myrna Loy.

Sunday.

Saturday wedding was exhausting! Siobhan and Mike had a gorgeous wedding....which you will maybe see in a month or so. It was in Rye, NY at the Coveleigh Club on the Long Island Sound. It was a lovely house and chilly day.

Inspiration-B&W

We all know I have a love for all things b&w.
So today's inspirations are just that, lovely b&w fashion shots.
I'm not sure what makes me smile more, the beautiful contrasts or the fashion.
Enjoy.

Inspiration-Georges Dambier

Hello Wednesday!
Slow day here in BK. So I will get to it!
I was not familiar with Geroges Dambier's work or himself until recently.
I came across his images doing a google search and fell in love!
He was a photographer for Elle and Vogue in the 40's and 50's.
He also headed a fashion department for Magnum in the mid-50's.
My favorite tidbit about him is that he launced his own magazine for young people featuring culture and fashion called TWENTY. Love it.
Enjoy!
