Ms. Freya

So my lovely new friend Erika headed out of town for the weekend so I agreed to watch her amazing dog Freya last night. As you can tell....I love Freya and I love Erika's yard. She has the best New York garden I have ever seen....and she's quirky.

Love. Love. Love.
I wish all ladies were still this classy.
That is all.

Sunburn?

Question: Can a plant get a sunburn?
Here's the thing, I put one of my plants outside the other day. Just for two days until the wind knocked it over and then I moved it inside so it would not be attacked by a storm (yes...I'm very protective of my plants).
I noticed today that all the branches of the tree are now purple! A deep purple. They used to be a dull brown/green.
So my question: Can a plant get a sunburn or is this tree supposed to be purple?!?!

Robert Mapplethorpe. Feels like a good day for nudity. Happy Sunday.

Sunday, June 19

Had the loveliest brunch today with Kyle, Cuno, James, and Dillon.

Last summer I had the great pleasure of photographing the wedding of Danny and Danielle and today they welcomed their first son into the family! Congrats Danny and Danielle and Auntie Sheryl!

A baker's dozen...

Today I had the good fortune to hang with one of my newest friends, Miss Erika.
Things I have learned about her: She is a serious baker. Like kicks my ass baker.
She looks adorable, even when grocery shopping. She has a rad dog. We have the best mutual friend, one Miss Sarah Cuno.
Heading back to her place later for some drinking and dish washing?!?! Yes...definitely.

Inspiration-Sally Mann

Last night I had the great pleasure of seeing an original Sally Mann print and it just reminded me how much I love her work. In the early 80's she started shooting her young children and that became her most well know body of work. After that she would shoot landscapes and bodies decomposing. Most recently she has shot super close up's of faces. If you get a chance I highly recommend watching her documentary from 2005, What Remains. It is fascinating and will make you want to work harder....in whatever you do.

Be jealous of her super sexy camera.

RISD. Margarita Sunday?

I had a lovely reunion with two of my old roommates from RISD last night, Liz and Kyle (and Liz's man candy Ray). Too many margaritas later I walk Kyle home 25 blocks and 3 avenues where we walk a dog named Hudson (aka the sweetest dog ever) and run into Marc Jacobs. Needless to say it was a lovely night.

Frog

My parents pool often collects frogs. They come up from the swamp down the hill and end up in the pool. Normally my mother will catch them in the skimmer and "dispose" of them.
My brother in law Shawn is an animal saver. So this was his mission.
Zak found the biggest frog I have ever seen in the pool and Shawn was commissioned to get it out before my mom did.

Kids

Zak helping Shawn catch a frog in the pool.

Lex and her "cheese" face. I dislike whoever taught her this.

Lily and Papa.

Irv.

Because everyone needs a dose of Irving.

Friday and Saturday

Steph took me for a day out on the boat in town.....I got the worst sunburn and have been peeling for about 5 days. I had the best time. Love you beans.

Saturday, I took my sunburn outside, covered head to toe in fabric so my skin couldn't see the sun and helped my mom plant flowers in the yard.

In the afternoon my lovely friend DC stopped by and took me (and my burn) out for ice cream.
My favorite...twist on a cone with rainbow sprinkles. Love you lady.

Tornado Wednesday

Came back to Mass after the zoo on Tuesday night. Since I was visiting home for 12 days I agreed to watch the new niece Lily for the first two days. Turns out the first day was tornado day. We hid out in the basement, napped before, during, and after the tornado. Basically what I am saying is, if you ever have to be in a tornado with a baby...you should borrow this one :)

Bronx Zoo

Crazy two weeks! Last week started with a trip to the Bronx Zoo with my sister, her husband and two kids. So we have a picture of Zak with the scary turkey. The backseat from the car ride to MA, and a quick video of Erin and I singing and Alexis finding that odd. It's mostly funny because the rules when driving with Erin are that she can't stop on a song unless she can sing it...otherwise she'd stop on everything!
